West Yard project start date:  Summer 2005
The Issues
1. Out-dated front fence with sagging gate that won't close.
2. Dirt yard with dirt walk way.  Muddy in Winter, dusty in Summer.
3. Ground level planter boxes along house causing mud splash up on house during rainy season.
4. Over hanging Oak tree causing excessive leaf clean up.
5. Deteriorating garden/storage shed (30 years old?).
6. Spiders, spiders, spiders!
Conclusion:  High level of maintenance (and frustration) for a section of the property not being fully utilized.

The Plan
1. Replace fence and gate with updated materals and design that ties into the front yard landscaping plan. Done
2. Remove large over hanging Oak tree limbs. Done
3. Install/build covered brick walkway (to keep the sun of the West side windows in the afternoon) with raised               planter boxes for fern garden area. Done
4. Pour sectioned cement slab to front new work shop/garden tool shed. Done
5. Build custom designed 10x14 wood working/tool storage shop with attached lawn and garden tool shed. In             progress
6. Install brick pathway from backyard to shed area.
7. Replace Ivy covered wire back fence with updated materals and design.
8. Repair, repaint, refinish West side of house. In progress

October 16,  2006 - Roof on, shed trimmed out.
October -1, 2006 - Lauren wanted to have some friends over and sleep in the shed before I filled it up with stuff.  She called it a cabin and I thought that was pretty funny, so from now on the new shop/shed will be referred to as the "Cabin".

September 9-10, 2006 - Pier blocks in, floor framed.

August 26-27, 2006 - Tore down old shed and wood storage area so I can start on the new shop.
July 29-30, 2006 - Walkway covered and painted.
July 2006 - Put up walkway post and rafters. Getting the section that requires painting, painted.  More Here

Don D. comes over and graciously trims back some of the overhanging Oak limbs that are creating the excessive leaf fall.

Today I got the rafters up, all the framing done, and one sheet of paneling up.
Oct. 1-2,  2006
Worked all Sunday finishing most of the paneling and getting the roof on.  Monday after work, hung door and installed window.

More paneling up and roof on.             Door hung and window installed.
Oct 16,  2006
With a hectic work schedule and Marcie being in the hospital, I haven't had time to get any work done on the "Cabin".  I took a vacation this week, so I plan to finish up the first  section soon.

                                                                                                                                Remember this?

Ready to put on roof                                        Roof on. Trimmed out.  A few more structual touch-ups and then                                                                           some paint.  The South wall (with ladder) will have a smaller                                                                               shed for yard tools attached, so no trim on that wall yet.
Oct. 28 - 2006
Painted and trimmed out.  I'm pleased with the out-come.  Next is to add a attached garden tool shed on the wall to the left. Then a work bench and shelfing in the main shop.
July - 2007
Start on attached lawn and garden tool shed.
