Marcie, Wyatt and I headed up to central Oregon with Mike and Denise to sample the trout and bass fishing at Crane Prairie Reservoir.  Once there, we found out that mid summer isn't the best time to fish the lakes in this area.

Crane Prairie, for example, averages about 12 feet in depth.  With the summer heat, the water temp raises (74 degrees surface temp while we were there) and the trout fishing slows.  Trout were being caught, but not even 1 fish per boat average.  We also tried fishing for bass, but no luck there either.  Wyatt managed to hook and land the only fish of the trip, about a 15 inch rainbow while fishing the Deschutes River channel.

We fished in the morning and evening which left us the middle of the day to explore some of the other lake in the area. I'm planning to go back in October when the weather cools.
